was a 1200xl, bought waaaaay back in 1984, January 4th. I still have it too. Well, shell only. The computer itself died years ago, so I gutted it out and I have the case mounted on the wall as a piece of art.

My brother, sister and I would save our paper route money to buy games for our atari...after all these years, our atari is at our camp for us to enjoy when we get together up there...it's fun to compete with each other too because we each were good at something the other one wasn't...i like the idea of your wall art!!!

I started out in Gr. 3 with my 800XL, which I received for Christmas. Six months of saving up later I received some birthday money, which gave me enough to get an XM301. I can still hear the comforting carrier echoed out my TV and see the white-on-blue 300BPS ATASCII scolling up that 40x25 screen.

Come to think of it, that probably messed me up as a kid. It took away all my coding time. ;-)

I remember the excitement of getting an Atari 400 on close-out at some electronics store in 1984. It must've been around $120 at the time. I only had the Defender cartridge for months, so I got to where I could play indefinitely on that. The 300 baud modem, BASIC and the cassette recorder started me down the long, dark path of becoming an evil hacker... I still miss those ATASCII animations. =(

Not so much about Atari perhaps. But i see you love Photoshop too, ha ha ha. Maybe i'll throw in my really freaky pics too. I really love Photoshop.

And for Atari 800XL, those memories.............

I don't have photoshop. I just ran my photo through a GIMP filter so that you gentle folks wouldn't be able to tell I have syphilous. Ye-arrg.

Was 800 XL with 3 games, Decathlon, Aztec Challenge and Boulder Dash. Before that i was a Commodore Vic-20 owner. But this was something else. Crystal clear graphics and 4 soundchannels. I still think Atari was the best 8bit computer around at that time. What the heck, some games are good even by todays standards. I have always been week for Boulder Dash and Millipede.

    Aahh, those memories..........

Novadays i play Atari on emulators. And i think "Atari 800 Win" is one of the best emulators around.

An 800, since I assume the 2600 don't count. $500 bucks for an 88K floppy drive, those were the days. Star Raiders remains amazingly cool for what can be done in 8K.

M.U.L.E. one of the top ten best games ever written.

I played this awesome video game on the atari all weekend long and it was fucking amazing. I don't know what it was called but It was the weirdest game I have ever played.

You start out in this pub trying NOT to get drunk, weird, then you end up swinging these balls around in some park in the dark trying not to hit people

then this fire goddess comes out of no where and takes me in her space ship to this trashed planet were I was enslaved and forced to do her bidding until I figured out you could just bite her neck and shed join your party and be as submissive as a pussy cat.

The next morning as she was off busy doing something I ended up steeling her ship but I didn’t get far before the space police pulled me over and impounded her ship. I continued on foot but she caught up to me and slapped some glowing tag on my chest and made me her slave once again.

Does anyone know what game this is, I got it with a bunch of other games on ebay and the title is all scratched up. I cant figure out were to go from here, any help?

omg that is the funniest game i've ever heard of!!! well i have no idea what it is called but you could try downloading some of the ROMS on this site: www.geocities.com/imdylank/user.html and see if you luck out and find it.

well as for me my first Atari was a 2600 and I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old. My very first game was Space Invaders. :) :) :) I still play that on my emulator (z26). I believe I still have an Atari 2600 console kicking around somewhere but it isn't my original one- think i found it at a garage sale a long time ago.

speaking of finding stuff at garage sales ....i couldn't believe it....recently I saw Frogger at one!! I danced around a bit like an excited monkey hehe.

Don't mention Commodore Vic-20. I had a "multi loading" game on 48 k, that was a stunning size for Vic-20 (with 3.5 Kb internal memory).

Playtime 2 minutes, loading time 35 minutes, he he he he.

            :)

had too many games to count and even today I was looking up screenshots on Google.

Then I moved up to the 1040ST and found Midi.

                Me too!

If you want to use Atari ST (or 800 xl) on your PC, download some emulators.

Steem, for Atari ST. (you can even use virtual midi ports on steem)

                steem.atari.st/download.htm#htmlhelp

                And "AtariWin800 Plus" for 800XL.

                www.emuxhaven.net/atari8bit.shtml

Now, download some roms for your emulators. (check the first link)

                  Ah, an Atari tribe :-)
My third computer as a kid was a 800XL with the cartridge slot on top - loved it... but the tape loader was a challenge... afte 15 minutes of squeaks and groans you'd get the error so many people have mentioned. The worst game I got with it was European countries and capitals... it was the worst game ever. Had a great cartridge game called Mountain King.
After the Atari I got amy first Windows PC with a playstation built in!

i looked at the link and it tells you to go to other links, hoping to nail a good one for both st and the 8bit.

                    Yes i can help you.

First download "Bitcomet" (a bittorrent client, it's free to download).

                    www.bitcomet.com/

Install it on your computer (it's easy, just dubbelclick)

                    Now, try this link..........

You will find a LOT of roms here, and it's legal to download. I found a torrent containing (belive it or not) 105.542 Commodore 64 games. Another Atari 800 torrent contained 11.000 roms.

You better get 7zip also. It's a packer program. Some torrents are in 7zip format (they want to cut down the size of the torrent as much as possible and 7zip is way better the Winrar on that).

                    Get 7zip for free at.........

                    www.7-zip.org/

                    Remember.......

To download roms for Atari ST, Atari 800, C64 and so on it's fully legal to do. But to download the other things on this site is not so legal. You will find anything on this site. ;)

                    For Atari 800.......

                    isohunt.com/torrents.php

                    Commodore 64

                    isohunt.com/torrents.php

                    Atari st

                    isohunt.com/torrents.php

(look for the other systems as well, Timex Sinclair, Colecovision, Intellivision, Amiga, etc)

                    Good luck.

                    :)

Maybe this way is better, i'll give you some ftp links. But you'll need some sort of ftp client to start download. Maybe you already have one, else you can download several free ftp clients on the net.

Try this one and get the best filemanager on planet earth at the same time, "Total Commander". It's not free, it's shareware but you can use it anyway. Everytime you start Total Commander you must press one of 3 buttons. When you register you don't have to do that. Total Commander is truly awesome, i have been using it for several years now and i wouldn't manage a day without it. (no, i'm not the one who makes it, ;)). Download Total Commander here.

                      www.ghisler.com/

Now, use the ftp client in Total Commander and start download, download, download. Good Luck.

                      :)

In Total Commander use "Control+F" (or use the drop down menu) and choose "New Url". Simply insert one of my ftp links there to connect to the ftp's.
